Buddy Peace – Wolf Diesel Mountain

When it comes to the art of making mixtapes, Buddy Peace is one of the all time greats. He puts so much love and attention into his mixes that I dread to think how long it takes him to make them. Just when I thought I was getting good at making mixtapes, I heard some of his and realised what a n00b I still am. Here’s the list of equipment he used to create Wolf Diesel Mountain, which may give you some idea of the effort put into it: –

Technics 1200 turntable
Shure M-447 cartridge
Vestax PMC-07 Pro mixer
Akai MPC2000XL sampler/sequencer
Iomega Zip Drive
Boss Dr Sample SP-303 sampler
Boss Dr Sample SP-202 sampler
Yamaha SU-10 sampler
Pioneer CDJ1000 Mk2 CD turntable
Pioneer DV-370 DVD player
Hitachi FX140E video recorder
Nikon Coolpix L2 camera
Tascam Portastudio 414 MkII four track
Korg Kaoss Pad
MBox 2
Tascam US-122 soundcard
Shaker Egg
Hand Drum
AKG c-1000 microphone
Adobe Audition
Steinberg Logic Platinum 5.30

While I’ve filed this under hip-hop, Wolf Diesel Mountain is really a multi-genre mix, although hip-hop features heavily. If you want to hear how a finely crafted mix can sound, do yourself a favour and buy a copy. You can pick it up here in either MP3 or lossless FLAC format for just £3.50: –

Wolf Diesel Mountain itself is not available to stream for free online, so I’m posting Buddy’s Antler God Minimix, which is a very condensed version of WDM that he put out for promo purposes.

Buddy rarely releases track listings for his mixes, simply because he uses so many tracks and snippets from all kinds of sources that a complete track listing would be huge, and that’s why one isn’t included here. Enjoy.
